Polished concrete is a popular choice for flooring thanks to its practicality and smooth, clean finish. Kennards Concrete Care can hire you the equipment you need, and provide you with the necessary expert advice. The polishing process involves a number of steps that need to be followed carefully to achieve the best results. Firstly, the surface needs to be evaluated to determine its condition. Whether it’s a newly laid slab, chipped or cracked, or has carpet or any type of coating on it will determine whether it can be polished at all. At this point you will need to determine the level of polish you wish to achieve, from most- to least-expensive. Kennards Concrete Care offer three levels of polish that are commonly used to suit different floor finish requirements ranging from: the full polish with a full gloss high shine; the semi-gloss; and finally the matte finish.
Once the surface has been evaluated and the polish process determined, the correct machinery and diamond tooling must be selected. The range includes machines such as the Grinder Heavy Duty 4 Head 415V which is ideal for surface preparation, and grinding-and-polishing areas in excess of 800m2. For the smaller- to medium-sized jobs there is the Grinder Single Head Heavy Duty 415V, perfect for commercial and industrial jobs; or the Grinder Planetary 240V-400 Series that is suited to domestic jobs as it is lightweight and can be used on stone, concrete and terrazzo.
