CSR Gyprock developed its perforated plasterboard range, Gyptone, to provide architects, designers and home-renovators with ceilings and walls that achieve high levels of acoustic performance. The plasterboard perforation together with acoustic fabric lining reduces echo and noise reverberation; and is suitable for both ceilings and walls. The Gyptone Range offers three perforation patterns: 12mm Square; 12mm Square Minigrid; and Slotted Minigrid; each with different percentages of open area to meet most acoustic application requirements. Each board is 2400mm x 1200mm x 12.5mm; the boards can be used for curved installations down to a radius of 6000mm [dry bending] to create interesting architectural features; and all four edges of the sheet are recessed to make flush jointing quicker and easier, which negates the need for butt joints.

Matching access panels are available comprising a plasterboard frame that is easily set into the ceiling and a 510mm square hatch-piece that fits neatly into the frame. These panels provide access to the roof-cavity while ensuring a seamless look across the surface. Gyprock’s perforated plasterboard core range also includes the Standard 6mm Round, which is the traditional perforated pattern used throughout Australia for many years. Gyprock’s Standard 6mm Round provides an economical aesthetic option for ceilings or walls but is supplied without an acoustic fabric backing. 6mm Round’s acoustic performance is adequate for most situations where moderate levels of attenuation are required.

Gyptone 12mm Square features and benefits: eight large square groupings per sheet; each with 400 x 12mm square perforations at 25mm centres; 16% open area; black, white acoustic fabric backing; matching access panels comprising frame and hatch; 3kg point loading to add lighting or decoration; works well alongside standard plasterboard when creating borders.
Gyptone 12mm Square Minigrid features and benefits: eight large square groupings per sheet; each with nine mini grids of 16 x 12mm square perforations at 25mm centres; subtle pattern provides an open area of 6%; black acoustic fabric backing.
